Why is Octoparse not opening the URL I entered normally?

Fix Octoparse URL loading issues, including blank pages, access blocks, and CAPTCHA.

Updated over a month ago

Sometimes, when using Octoparse to extract data from a website, you may encounter situations where the URL you entered doesn’t load correctly. This tutorial explains the common scenarios that can cause this issue and provides solutions to get your task running smoothly.

Scenario 1: The Website Shows a Blank Page

Description:
After entering the URL in Octoparse, the page appears completely blank. This usually happens because the website is incompatible with Octoparse’s built-in browser. Some modern websites use advanced JavaScript frameworks or security settings that the built-in browser cannot handle.

Solution:

  1. Switch the User Agent:

    • Go to Task Settings in Octoparse

    • Change the User Agent to Chrome 107.0 for Mobile or try other options.

  2. Still Not Working?

    • If switching the User Agent doesn’t resolve the issue, contact the Octoparse support team for further assistance.

Scenario 2: Access Denied or Country-Specific Restrictions

Description:
Some websites restrict access based on your IP address. You may see messages like “Access Denied” or the website may only be accessible from certain countries.

Solution: Consider using a VPN on your computer to access the website from a supported location.

Scenario 3: CAPTCHA or Anti-Bot Protection

Description:
Many websites use CAPTCHA or anti-bot systems (like Cloudflare) to prevent automated access. When you open the URL in Octoparse, you may be prompted with a CAPTCHA or blocked completely.

Solution: Refer to the following articles to address the issue.
