How do I import the URLs from Google Sheet

Import the URLs from Google Sheets to make URL updates easier.

Updated over a week ago

Google Sheets is one of the most popular spreadsheet tools worldwide. Many Octoparse users ask whether they can import URLs directly from Google Sheets, so they can simply update the URLs in the sheet instead of modifying the task in Octoparse.

At the moment, Octoparse does not support importing URLs directly from Google Sheets. However, there is a simple workaround:

👉 Publish the Google Sheet to the web and use the published link as the starting URL in Octoparse.

You can then update the URLs inside the sheet anytime — and the published link will stay the same.

The main steps are shown in the menu on the right. [Download the sample task file here.]

Step 1. Publish your Google Sheet to the web

  • Click on File

  • Choose Share and select Publish to web

  • Copy the link generated

  • Make sure “Automatically republish when changes are made” is enabled

Step 2. Start a task using the Google Sheet link

  • Paste the published link into Octoparse and start a new task as usual.

Step 3. Set up a Loop Item to click each URL

  • Click on the first link on the sheet

  • Choose Select all similar elements from the Tips

  • Choose Loop click each URL

Octoparse will create a loop that opens each link one by one.

Step 4. Configure the extraction steps

  • Choose any information you need to scrape

  • Choose Text

Your final workflow will look similar to this:
