How do I import the URLs from Google Sheet

Import the URLs from Google Sheets to make URL updates easier.

Updated over a month ago

Google Sheet is one of the most popular spreadsheet programs around the world. Many Octoparse users have asked if they can import URLs from a Google Sheet spreadsheet so that they may just update the URLs in the sheet instead of modifying the settings within Octoparse.

For now, Octoparse does not support importing URLs directly from Google Sheets but we do have a workaround for that. We can publish the spreadsheet to the web, and use that web link as the starting URL in Octoparse.

1. Publish your Google Sheet spreadsheet to web

  • Click on File

  • Choose Share and select Publish to web

You will get a link to the sheet and make sure the option "Automatically republish when changes are made" is ticked.

2. Start a task with the Google Sheet URL

Copy and paste the URLs to Octoparse to start a new task

3. Set up a Loop Item to click on each link on this sheet

  • Click on the first link on the sheet

  • Choose Select All from the Tips

  • Choose Loop click each URL

A loop item will be created to open this link.

4. Configure steps to get the data

  • Choose any information you need to scrape

  • Choose Extract text of the selected element

The final workflow will be like this:
